Using the Text Editor (WYSIWYG)

The text editor enables you to easily edit text, using the buttons above the text field. Below you will find an explanation of all buttons, from left to right and top to bottom.

Top row

  • Left arrow/Back - Undo edit (Ctrl + Z also works).
  • Right arrow/Redo - Repeat/redo edit after undo/removal (Ctrl + Y also works).
  • Bullet points - Use bullet points to create lists. You can only use the closed round (black) globules.
  • Numbering - Use digits to create ordered lists.
  • Text indents - Create one or more text indents. The indent size cannot be set.
  • Reduce indent - Create a text indent or reduce its size (with multiple indents).
  • Add table - Add a table to a text. Clicking this button will open a menu where you can select appropriate values, such as rows and columns.
  • Row properties - Clicking this icon will open a pop-up window where you can enter row properties, for example, alignment.
  • Cell properties - Clicking this icon will open a pop-up window where you can enter cell properties, for example, alignment and width.
  • Insert row above - Insert a row above the selected row.
  • Insert row below - Insert a row below the selected row.
  • Remove row - Remove the selected row.
  • Insert column left - Insert a column to the left of the selected column.
  • Insert column right - Insert a column to the right of the selected column.
  • Split cells - This will split joined cells.
  • Join cells - This will join cells.
  • Paste as plain text - Pasting text without any formatting. This is wise when you copy text from another page. Text will be pasted without underlying formatting, that you might not even notice. This will prevent differences in appearance between written (entered) and pasted texts. Select this option before pasting text in the editor.
  • Paste from Word - If you copy text from a Word document, paste it using this option. Click this option before pasting text in the editor.
  • Search - Search for a word or sentence in the editor. (Ctrl + F also works, but applies to the entire page)
  • Search/Replace - Replace a word or sentence, for example replace SEOshop with SEOshop.
  • Add symbol - Use this option, if you do not know the ASCII code of certain characters. Click this option to open a pop-up window with all available characters. You can add one character at a time.
  • Clear formatting - This will clear all formatting in selected text. If you paste text from another source, it may contain formatting. To remove this formatting, select the text and click this icon.
  • HTML - This is the HTML editor associated with texts. You can use HTML code to modify text according to your preferences.
    The Row properties to Join cells options are only clickable after inserting a table.

Bottom row

  • B - Make text bold
  • I - Make text italic
  • U - Underline text
  • Strikethrough - Strikethrough text
  • H1 - H1 caption. Do not use this option!
  • H2 t/m H6 - Captions
  • Subscript - Numbers positioned a little lower than line text.
  • Superscript - Numbers positioned a little higher than line text.
  • Text color - Edit text color.
  • Color text highlight - Edit background color of text (not the entire background), as if the text is highlighted.
  • Align text - From left to right: align left (default), center, align right and justify (equal line lengths).
  • Image - Add an image. Refer to a detailed explanation on how to do this further down on this page.
  • Video - Add a video, through a URL or file on your computer. Refer to a detailed explanation on how to do this further down on this page.
  • Add hyperlink - Change text into a hyperlink. Please check the support page for Adding a PDF file . For a detailed explanation on how to change text into a hyperlink and/or adding a PDF file.
  • Remove hyperlink - Changes a hyperlink into plain text again.
Do not use H1 texts in the editor. Only one single H1 caption is allowed, which is reserved for titles. Only use H2 or lower (H3, H4, etc.)

Adding images

This option works the same for every page with a text editor. Check out the example below:

  1. Navigate to TOOLS > Files in the left menu of the back office.
  2. Click the green plus icon at the top of the screen to add the image(s).
  3. Go to the page where you want to add (an) image(s), through Service > Text pages > About us.
  4. Click the tree icon in the bottom row to add (an) image(s).
  5. A pop-up window will open, where you can add the image(s). Click the icon to the right of the File/URL input field to retrieve the image(s) from Files.
  6. A new pop-up window will open, containing all files added through TOOLS > Files. Browse for the image(s) and click the green plus icon to the right.
  7. The image in question is added to the first pop-up window. If so required, configure the remaining options according to your preferences. Click Insert to add the image.
If you have an image URL, only proceed with step 3 and 4. In step 4, you only have to enter the URL in the File/URL input field.

Adding videos

Adding videos works in a similar fashion. Follow the steps below:

  1. Navigate to TOOLS > Files in the left menu of the back office.
  2. Click the green plus icon at the top of the screen to add the video(s).
  3. Go to the page where you want to add (an) video(s), through Service > Text pages > About us.
  4. Click the negative icon in the bottom row to add (an) video(s).
  5. A pop-up window will open, where you can add the video(s). Set the Type field to Video. If this option does not work, try one of the other ones to determine with format matches your video(s).
  6. Click the icon to the right of the File/URL input field to retrieve the video(s) from Files.
  7. A second pop-up window will open, containing all files added through TOOLS > Files. Browse for the video(s) and click the green plus icon to the right.
  8. The image in question is added to the first pop-up window. If so required, configure the remaining options according to your preferences. Click Insert to add the video.
If you have a video URL, only proceed with step 3 to 5. In step 6, you only have to enter the URL in the File/URL input field.
