You can find your gift cards settings by going to Customers > Gift Cards in either eCom or Retail POS if you also have a physical store. By centralizing your gift card settings in this way, you can easily access and adjust them for both channels. 

1. Navigate to Customers > Gift Cards > Gift card settings. 
2. Select where you want to sell your gift cards by toggling on the switch for eCom and/or Point of sale.
3. Optionally, toggle the Amounts switch to set common gift card amounts to suit your needs.
4. Enter a minimum and maximum limit for custom amounts.
5. Review your gift card designs. For instructions on adding custom images or hiding stock images from customer view, refer to the instructions in our Customizing gift cards article.
6. Click Save changes.

You have now configured your gift card settings. If you use the default Ignite theme, a Gift card option was added to the navigation of your online store. This means that your customers are now able to buy and redeem gift cards in your online store.

If you enabled the Point of sale switch, you're all set to start selling and recharging gift cards in store as well.

If you don't use the default Ignite theme you will need to make gift cards visible to your customers in the navigation of your online store. To do so, complete one of the following setups:

• Add a navigation option for your gift cards.
• If you customized the code in your theme, you may prefer to edit your code instead of adding a navigation option.

Finally, if you're using a multi-step checkout in your online store, your customers will only be able to enter their gift card code when they reach the step with the cart. To give your customers the best gift card experience possible, we recommend using a one-page or single-step checkout instead.

Gift card user permissions

Viewing gift card codes

Permission to view complete gift card codes can be added or removed from user role permissions. This permission gives the role access to complete gift card codes on the gift card overview and gift card details pages. For security purposes, it is best practice to limit the number of people who have access to gift card data to minimize the potential for fraud. To enable or disable this permission:

1. Navigate to Settings > Employee roles.
   
2. Click on the employee role you wish to edit. 
3. Click on or off the checkbox beside Customers - View Gift Card Numbers to allow or restrict access to full gift card numbers for the employee role. 
   
4. Click Save Changes.

Exporting gift card data

Ability to export gift card data can be added or removed from user role permissions. This permission gives the role the ability to create an export of all gift card information, including complete gift card codes, all gift card balances, and the customer name associated with the card (if applicable). For security purposes, it is best practice to limit the number of people who have access to gift card data to minimize the potential for fraud. To enable or disable this permission:

1. Navigate to Settings > Employee roles.
2. Click on the employee role you wish to edit. 
3. Click on or off the checkbox beside Customers - Export Gift Card Data to allow or restrict access to gift card data export for the employee role. 
   
4. Click Save Changes.
