In Lightspeed eCom, you can manage specific details for each product variant.
Editing a variant
To edit a product variant's information:
- Navigate to Products > Products.

Select the product's name to open its settings.

In the Inventory & Variants section, click the variant's title.
- From the settings pop-up window, adjust the variant's information.

When finished, click Save.
Understanding variant options
You can edit a product variant's title, prices, identifiers, weights/sizes, inventory, and limits.
Title
The title that identifies this variant as unique ("Red," "Small," etc.).
- Title: The title of your variant.
Prices
Specific pricing for your variant. You can also customize tax rates, unit prices, and cost.
- Price Excl. VAT: The price you charge for the product.
- Old price Excl. VAT: If the price is reduced, enter the old price here to display it with a strike-through next to the new price, so that your customers can see the reduction.

Calculate taxes automatically: Toggle this on to automatically calculate taxes based on your tax settings. Toggle this off to customize your Tax rate and Tax type.
- It's recommended to keep this toggled on, as manual tax rates are not supported in North America. Learn more about setting taxes in the United States of America and in Canada.

Unit price: Price per individual unit, weight, or volume.
- You can enable or disable this by navigating to Settings > Workflow and enabling or disabling the Price per unit toggle.
- Some themes display the Unit price on the product page even if the value is $0/unit, so we recommend turning off this setting if you're not using it.
- Unit measurement: The unit of measurement that best suits your product's price.

Additional cost: Additional costs you can assign to your products, if applicable.
- To create additional costs, navigate to Settings > Additional Costs. Click Add additional costs. Enter the Title, Price Excl., and VAT, then click Add.
- Cost price: Amount you pay for the product. Not visible for customers.
Manually calculating taxes
If you choose to disable Calculate taxes automatically, you will see additional customization options.

Tax rate: The specific tax rate you want to apply to this product.
- To create a new tax rate, navigate to Settings > Taxes. Click Add Tax Rate and enter the Title and Tax, then click Save.

Tax type: The specific type of tax your product may be eligible for.
- Electronic service (EU): Electronic (digital) services are subject to the VAT rate that applies to the country where a customer resides.
- Solar panels (NL): Specific taxes for solar panels in the Netherlands.
Identifiers
Identifiers are a product variant's unique item information.
- Article code: The code you assign to products to identify them in your online store. The article code is visible on invoices and packing slips.
- Barcode: EAN, ISBN, or UPC. Enter this if you use a barcode scanner to scan products.
- SKU: The Stock Keeping Unit is the number of the warehouse where products are stored. It is printed on the packing slip.

HS code: Harmonized System codes may be required for international shipments.
- If you don't have HS codes enabled, this field will not appear.
- Enable HS codes by navigating to Settings > Advanced and clicking the HS Codes toggle on. Click Save.
Weights/Sizes
Physical dimensions of your product variant.

Weight: The weight of the product, used to determine shipping costs. Visible in your online store only when customers compare products.
- If you use several shipping methods with different rates, ensure your product weight is accurate. The system determines the appropriate shipping method based on the weight entered.
- If you charge the same shipping costs for all of your products, or if you don't charge shipping, don't fill in this field.
- Volume: This field is only required if you use Paazi. It is visible in your online store.
- Dimensions: The Width, Depth, and Height of your product.

Matrix: This field is only required if you use Paazi. Visible in your online store if customers compare products.
- Each matrix can have its own price group. If a product is very lightweight but requires a sizable package due to its dimensions, you can use a matrix that differs from regular packages.
- Colli: This field is only required if you use Paazi. This is the individual packaging unit for a shipment. Use this field if you need several units to ship a given product.
Inventory
Inventory of the product variant.
- Track the inventory: Keep this toggled on to prevent an out-of-stock purchase. Only disable this feature when the stock level for this variant is unimportant or nonexistent.
- Allow backorders: This option will only appear if Track the inventory is toggled on. Enabling this feature allows the purchase of a product when temporarily out of stock.

Quantity: The number of items in stock for each product. This will automatically change when the product is ordered.
- If your eCom store is connected to Retail POS, quantity will be managed on the Retail side and sync to eCom.

Notify below: The minimum number of stock reached when you will receive a notification to reorder.
- For this feature to function, Track the inventory must be enabled.
- Minimum quantity: The number of product inventory reserved.
Limits
The minimum and/or maximum quantity of the product variant that an individual customer can purchase.
- Minimum/maximum order quantity: The minimum and maximum numbers that a customer can order of the product.
