Troubleshooting hidden categories
Sometimes you may have made a category set as visible, but it still doesn't appear on your eCom store. There are two reasons for this, either the parent(s) of the category are not set to be visible or the category must be detached from a parent.
Making parent categories visible
If the category you are trying to make visible on your eCom store is supposed to be a subcategory, ensure that its parent(s) are also set as visible.
- Login to your eCom Back Office and click Products > Categories from the menu on the left-hand side of the screen.
- Locate the subcategory you're troubleshooting in the list of categories.
- Be cautious of categories with the same title. It is recommended that all categories have unique names to avoid confusion.
- Make the parent categories above the subcategory visible inside the settings of the category by following these instructions and repeating for every other parent category.
Detaching a category from its parent
The category your troubleshooting may be set as a subcategory. If your category is not supposed to be a subcategory, you can detach its parent so it becomes a top level category by following the instructions located here.
Hiding categories from search engines
You can prevent your category from being indexed by search engines by turning on a setting inside the category settings.
- Login to your eCom Back Office and click Products > Categories from the menu on the left-hand side of the screen.
- Scroll down to the SEARCH ENGINES section and enable the switch labeled Hide from search engines.
