Hi. How can we help?

Selling products without stock

You can allow the sale of products without stock. This is useful when you have products with unimportant stock levels. For example when you're selling electronic products, services or uninventoried products. In these cases, disable the Track the inventory option for your products.

Enabled by default, the Track the inventory setting prevents the sale of out-of-stock products, shows the stock level on the product page and allows the option to enable back orders. Backorders are useful for temporary product shortages. For more information on backorders, click here.

Disabling the switch allows out-of-stock purchases and hides the stock level from the product page. In the back office, the product's inventory number will still decrease when ordered. To prevent a negative stock number, low stock (orange) or out of stock (red) alerts, add a very high number to the stock level field in your product.

For eCom stores connected to a Retail point of sale, most items published to eCom have Track the inventory enabled. Change your item type to Non-inventory to disable Track the inventory in eCom. For more information about editing items, click here.
