Hi. How can we help?

Adding legal agreements to content pages

It’s a good idea to consider whether your business requires or would benefit from posting legal terms and conditions, including terms of use, privacy policy, returns and refunds policies, cookie policies and other legal disclaimers, on your eCom store. You should consult a lawyer to find out what is appropriate for your business.

There are a variety of websites that offer template terms and conditions for free or a small fee. Be careful when using the one-size-fits-all terms and conditions on these sites. They are not a substitute for legal advice that is specifically tailored to address the risks faced by your business.

Although Lightspeed does not in any way endorse or recommend any of these sites, some examples by country include:

  • EU, United States, Canada and Australia - You will find free templates for all legal documents on TermsFeed.com. You can also pay a one-time fee to embed a link on your content pages. This will automatically update the content when TermsFeed makes a change.
  • Netherlands - You will find excellent general conditions (including delivery conditions) at Thuiswinkel.org. ICTrecht can help you with a free cancellation form via the cancellation right generator. The Netherlands Authority for Consumers & Markets has a good general checklist that brings you as an online retailer up to date on the legal rules that apply to eCom stores. Webwinkelkeur offers a good Example Privacy Policy.
  • Belgium - For Belgian general conditions, privacy policy and a disclaimer and a legal checklist, check out: Unizo.be. This information is offered in multiple languages.

Adding the document to eCom

Once you've obtained the documents, they should be added in your eCom Back Office by clicking Content. For more information about editing content pages, click here.
